Supporting The Glades

Supporting The Glades

Curtis Miller, owner of Gnar, showing off the new hammock spot at Wildcat Glades.

When I first acquired Gnar back in 2017, one of the things I begin recognizing is the need to invest back into Joplin, my hometown. And one of the places I had starting to get to know more and more was the Wildcat Glades Conservation and Audubon Center.

I asked Robin Standridge, the executive director, what the goals were for the Conservation Center going into next year. This was her response:

  1. Provide quality education for our Nature Explorers (ages 7 to 16) at no cost to the participants. Nature Explorers learn about outdoor activities with hands on activities such as outdoor cooking, camping, aquatic invertebrates, and night hikes.
  2. Develop a creekside hammock area.
  3. Place distance markers along the trail.

These costs add up to about $5,500 total for 2021. If the Gnar Nation could raise half that, we can help with the new creekside hammock area and distance markers for the trails.

Ways to help donate are pretty simple. Every purchase with Gnar, whether hammock or apparel, we will give 15% of that purchase back to the Glades for the month of October. Also, if you use discount code: SUPPORTTHEGLADES, I will throw in free shipping for you. Another way to help is by donating through their website here. -->

Keep an eye out on some events coming up that we look forward to being a part of to support this place, including events at the new hammock spot pictured!

Stay gnarly, friends!
